Prep Notes

The inspiration for this dish came from my younger days, much younger days. When I was a teenager my dad would take us to La Grenouille in NYC a magnificent restaurant the flowers oh so many beautiful flowers, they served amazing deserts. I remember they would come out with this plate full of oranges so beautiful topped with this spun sugar it was really amazing! So minus the spun sugar and liquor, this is my version.

Cooking Time

15 minutes

Yields

4 servings

Ingredients

5 oranges

1/4 cup filtered water

1 cinnamon stick

1 vanilla pod

1 teaspoon whole cloves

1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder

Sprinkle  lightly cinnamon on before serving

Directions

Cut one orange in half and squeeze the juice into a small saucepan. With that add, the water and the spices bring to a boil simmer for 5 minutes then shut it off and let it steep for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile peel the remaining oranges. The best way is to use a small knife you want to cut off all the membrane.

Slice the oranges about 1/2 inch thick and arrange them on a platter.

Than pour vanilla spiced glaze over the oranges sprinkle lightly cinnamon!
