Refreshing Summer Tea

Summertime memories at the jersey shore.  This first sign of summer was  Walking into our beach  house and the pungent sweet  smell of citrus and tea.  My mom would brew  GINORMOUS POT of good ole’ Lipton tea add oranges and lemons she always added extra oranges. POURED OVER ICE  with a sprig of mint (guess where I got my food thing from)and it was like someone rang the fire alarm all our friends would know that Mrs Scaduto made Iced tea…...

Nowadays, I still love Iced Tea. So I came up with a fewSummertime Refreshing Teas

Green Tea Breeze

This is a summer breeze, walking on the beach after a storm.

Steep 12 Green Tea bags with an inch of fresh ginger sliced in 10 cups of near boiling hot water. Let rest for 10 minutes remove bags let cool completely.
Add  2 cups sliced cucumber ( about 1 medium cucumber)  3 tablespoons fresh lime juice, and a bunch of fresh mint. Refrigerate, 1 hour .  Serve over Ice

Strawberry Fields

A glass of Strawberry Fields, a rocking chair, a porch, and a beach = Summertime!

Steep 6 bags of Earl Grey Tea in 6 cups boiling hot water. Let  rest for 10 minutes remove bags let tea cool completely. In a large pitcher mash 2 cups of strawberries lightly with a wooden spoon. Add another 2 cups sliced strawberries and 8 sprigs of fresh basil. Refrigerate, 1 hour.   Serve over ice

Watermelon Fresco

Watermelon takes the lead in this Iced Tea but the lime juice make it cool..

Steep 6 bags of Mint Tea in 6 cups boiling hot water. Let rest for 10 minutes remove tea bags let tea cool completely. Puree in a blender 6 cups watermelon and 2 tablespoon fresh lime juice and mint tea. In a large pitcher add watermelon tea mixture and handful of mint leaves Refrigerate, 1 hour. Serve over ice
